BT, the UK telecoms company, created an ‘Adopt a Kiosk’ scheme to allow local communities and parish councils to adopt their telephone boxes to save them from being decommissioned and removed. It seems the Great British public are sentimental about their traditional red boxes and since 2009 over 1,500 have been adopted throughout the country.
Art galleries, tea rooms and florists are just some of the quirky re-uses, but the most popular is using the phone boxes as pop-up libraries! A chap called Chris Gilmore has even created a list of sites in case we want to join the trail!
If any other communities or countries are doing their own version of re-used telephone boxes, kiosks, etc, please post up a pic or link here.

Okay, how do I get one? If only my room was big enough…hmmm.
Thanks for the reblog; how about the back garden? Your own private ‘reading room’… fun!
